Brackenwood Gallery

A gallery on Whidbey Island, WA representing the very best in fine arts and crafts from the pacific northwest.

"PATTERNS-Natural or Otherwise" opens July 3, for ART WALK !

Brackenwood Gallery is thrilled to present "PATTERNS-Natural or Otherwise" featuring nationally recognized sculptor GEORGIA GERBER and her daughter LAURA HUDSON, a painter. Georgia lives on Whidbey and is known for her public bronze art throughout the Northwest and beyond. These pieces are focused on Pattern, as the title suggests. The example of the "Bowed Raven" demonstrates Georgia's ability to capture the essence of the bird, yet add intricate patterns in just the right places. The raven balancing on the "rock" gives the piece such a natural appearance that it feels as though she has captured a moment in nature in bronze.

Laura Hudson, currently working on an MFA in Painting at Maryland Institute College of Art, also enjoys incorporating patterns in her work. Laura focuses on the mundane things in life and adds strong brush strokes, fantastic color and interesting patterns. Her subjects range from polka dot chickens to spooning lovers, but all involve bold colors that give these paintings a quirky, lively and realistic impression. She has quite a following after having her first show here last year. We are excited to welcome her back to the gallery!
