Brackenwood Gallery

A gallery on Whidbey Island, WA representing the very best in fine arts and crafts from the pacific northwest.

“The creative process is filled with magic and mystery,” said a client in our gallery recently. It seemed like a great segue into October which is often thought of as the month of magic and mystery and a pre-curser to the holiday season. We believe the new works by our esteemed artists will set the mood and spark the spirit for fall.

“Bells, Books and Candlesticks” is a Group Show at Brackenwood Gallery. The artists explored this theme thru their various mediums. You can expect to see beautiful handmade books, elegant bronze bookends and candle holders, exquisitely turned wooden candlesticks, unique bookcases, and of course paintings that light up the night and ring in the changing season.

     By its Cover

Painters, Anne Belov, Gail Davis, Cary Jurriaans and Faye Castle will contribute to this show. Anne Belov is famous for her paintings but she also produces some amazing mono-prints which will be on display in October. Anne's print "By Its Cover" turned out great.

Painter Cary Jurriaans joins the gallery for this show. Cary also runs the Whidbey Island Fine Arts Studio, where she offers classes as well as invites nationally known artists to give workshops here in Langley. Cary's "Grisaille Roses"  shown below, is rendered in values of grey. Growing up in Holland, Cary was surrounded by the works of Dutch Masters and they clearly have influenced her work.

>: Suzanne Schlicke and Bridget Fischer have made some beautifully crafted handmade books that range in size and style. We are thrilled to welcome Suzanne as an artist to Brackenwood. She is one of our employees but having her work here now is going to be such a pleasure. Suzanne has been making books for several years and taken this art form to a new level by incorporating such things as paper from a wasp's nest!

Bridget Fischer, a Professor of Art at Cascadia Community College in Bothell, is well known for her incredible prints. Bridget is one of those artists who is multi-talented: sculptor, painter, print maker and bookmaker. For this show, Bridget is contributing these lovely books.

Brackenwood Gallery is home to nationally known sculptor Georgia Gerber. Georgia is offering a gorgeous fox bronze candle holder named appropriately "Winter's Night".
